@YTartschool

Finally wrapped this up! Had a lot of fun with it, hope it helps! I’m thinking of doing a few more of these in the future with different themes like (environment textures, armor textures, clothes textures etc), any interest? 🤔

@malakaithedemigod

The best YouTube art school. Hands down

@thesunthrone

This is a magnificent breakdown on how to render materials! I honestly think the way you added the reflection from the tiny image just completely unlocks the concept in a clear, visual way that immediately shows the difference between the surfaces.

@Sleezy.Design

6:20 as a 3D artist myself I'd give you an additional tip. Every material has a different fresnel value, meaning the reflectivity of an object varies with the angle of the surface relative to the camera. So I'd make the reflection more visible towards the edges of the sphere, and less visible to almost invisible in the center. The falloff depends on the fresnel value

@josecallshimselfanartist

I'm surprised marc hasn't shattered his spine from carrying the entire industry of online art lessons on his back.

@yenfan4470

Very helpful video! Would love to see more texture tutorials. Maybe some like transparent or organic, for instance glass or chitin. Love your work!

@M_Deez

Bro I swear Marc comes in clutch every time!! Im literally painting Mando's shoulder piece right now cus I wanna learn how to paint metals and here comes Marc with the video about painting metals!

@firedehom9788

Gosh you are so underated as a art teacher
This is the exact tutorial I've being looking for for months!
Thank you so much!

@Appleblade

2 minutes in and the observation about value differences between metal, plastic, and skin... Jebus! I look down at my pen and, yep, the metal has the largest range, plastic next, and then the rubber part least (like skin)... why did I never abstract this fact? Marc's a genius!

@armoredsolus6233

You took a high-level concept and made it so simple. Gotta say Marc, you are becoming one of the best process teachers out there.

@igorporfiirio4915

2:07 This quote right at this moment is all I needed to hear. Seems so obvious in retrospect, but after hearing that everything just clicked.

@B4k4zzaku

Thank you from Brazil Marc!!!! I’ve been watching your classes for 6 months already and got so much better!!!

@benji_drawz

Amazing, I have always struggled with materials but the fact that I found this video really really made my day. Thanks for the video Marc ❤️

@JussiViitanen565

I just needed this information! You always upload these videos just at the right time

@manuelvillarreal229

This was fantastic! You are a wonderful teacher and have the ability to explain things in such a way that people can understand without feeling lost or entirely confused.

@ohwellhey6221

this is literally so funny because i was JUST watching your old tutorial on materials (the one a few years back!!) what a coincidence

@gianenci

Thank you! This helped me more than LOTS of other tutorial.I learn way easy with your "logic" explaination rather than the classic "do like this".

@aynurturker657

I gotta sayy, your classes improved me a lot! Thank you so much!

@LeonbarbosaArt

Man your video save me! All that i need to study digital paintings, materials and skins, thanks man!

@grimsonforce7504

I recently discovered material balls a few months ago. It's really helped me progress with it comes to value, materials, and color. This was a great refresher video. Metals and plastics still get me but I'm getting better.
