This is definitely one of Tyler Perry's best films. And the chemistry between Alfre Woodard and Kathy Bates is so good.
"If I say anything negative about a Tyler Perry movie they are going to come to my house" Greg! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
"It's your private thoughts that give me pause 😮." Coldest line delivery in cinema!!❤❤❤
10:47 Aaron, if you wanna see more of Kathy Bates AND crave southern food even more, Fried Green Tomatoes is an EXCELLENT choice.
Greg don't fight the tears. I love your reactions the most because your always real and vulnerable while watching movies.
She is garbage but he definitely shouldn't have taken and used all the money without speaking to her first.
Andrea and William first met at her wedding. He was being a creeper. Ugh. They started sleeping together after she started working for the company. Aaron doesn't pay attention to the actual lines in the movie. It's sad that Greg has to constantly explain things to Aaron. Chris did tell Andrea he can be the nicest guy but he warned her there could be problems if hes pushed. He was pushed. He reacted. Its a movie. She deserved it. Alfre and Sanaa have played mother and daughter in 3 movies, this one, Love & Basketball, and Something New.
When I saw this when I woke up, I immediately sat up and started watching. This is my favorite Perry movie with/without Medea. So glad you enjoyed it.
I loved this movie when it came out… Kathy Bates always turns out incredible performances… and I have to say Sanaa Lathans portrayal of the selfish daughter is really great because she is normally so likable in her characters… it’s wild that Aaron didn’t like it, it’s far better than most of his ridiculous madea movies
Cole Hauser as William is unrecognizable as Rip in Yellowstone fantastic
This one is considered to be one of Tyler Perry's better films. It is fun in how cartoonishly dramatic or soap operay it is, and seeing it with an energetic crowd going "ooooh" definitely helps lol. You can tell that's the reaction Perry always goes for in these films. In addition, there are some nuggets of decent writing and characterization in here but I can agree about certain things not being as well fleshed out as they could have been. I've said for the longest time that Perry is one of those directors that has good ideas for stories but not always the best exacution. In short, his films can be funny and entertaining but not always the best when looking at them critically 🤔.
1:30:52 Aaron asks why is it titled The Family that "Preys" together, it is a play on the words Pray vs Prey. 33:04 In the scene where Kathy Bates is talking new COO & Son, she says, "My family has been known to Prey on the weak." To Prey-as in to hunt. 33:08 Even Greg says so that is the family that preys. Her husband's & son's business deals & affairs. Vs Alfre's character Prays to God.
I can excuse Greg because he probably havent seen it in a decade but I'm surprised Aaron didnt immediately recognize one of the better F&F villains. "I'd like my cutter back".
When it comes to a Tyler Perry production the one thing you can always count on is the terrible quality of the wigs he makes the actors wear.
No, guys, Andrea and William first met at the wedding. They didn't know each other before then.
Great choice guys! Enjoy! The homeless guy is obviously depressed. He lost his job, his wife died and without a home and job he lost his kids.
59:37 The husband wasn't a weak man. He just loved his wife so much that it took her actually admitting her affairs to break his trust in her. This was also a slap that was deserved and doesn't need to be forgiven...... She was such a terrible person that this was my favorite part of the movie
Everybody mentioning Breakfast & here I am outside wit a cup of coffee 🚬 😅
BTW: While I don't condone DV, was it really surprising that he would slap his cheating, ball-busting wife who constantly berated him throughout the movie? Not going to lie, but I was both terrified and LMAO when she went flying over the counter. And considering what was down the road for her, a slap is nothing.
