In this Survive History video, Tod Booth from reenactment group Rose and Thistle explains how a Jacobite soldier could be identified in 1745. Initially, everyone joining Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Jacobite cause was a member of a Highland clan, wearing tartan and kilts. But later, Lowland Scots, French, Irish and English troops joined the Jacobite rebellion, meaning white cockades or tartan sashes needed to be worn.
