Time to Talk Song for Children's Mental Health Week by Al Start
Here's a song I co-wrote with Liza Stevens who is the author of the book "Not Today, Celeste" a story about a dog and her owner's depression. We toured primary schools in the UK with the puppet show and educated children about mental wellbeing, depression and how they can find someone to talk to.
You can find out more about the book and show here: www.nottodayceleste.co.uk/
And the week of Feb 7-13th 2022 is Children's Mental Health Week. The Thursday 3rd February is Time to Talk Day - this song is about finding someone to talk to if you have questions or you feel something is different, wrong or just not quite right.
It's good to talk!

Lyrics by Liza Stevens, Music by Al Start:
When it feels like life is too full of stress
And everywhere you turn you just see a mess
Here’s what you can do to make your worries less
Just turn to me
Chorus:
It’s time to talk
Time to share your fears
It’s time to talk
I’ll help you dry your tears
I’ll be there when you know for sure
It’s time to talk.
2
If something’s on your mind that you can’t ignore
Or you think things just aren’t the same anymore
All you need to do is knock upon my door
Cos right now
Repeat Chorus
When you feel alone just pick up the phone
Or give me a shout - I’ll help you out
Problems big and problems small
We can deal with them all
That’s me and you...Cos
It’s time to talk
Time to share your fears
Its time to talk
I’ll help you dry your tears
I’ll be there when you know for sure
It’s time to talk.
